    Obligatory introduction

Hi. My name is Kevin Copeland. I’m a Mac and Apple products expert and all around tech culture geek. I’m an independent consultant operating as Beach Mac in my home town of Virginia Beach and surrounding areas (southeastern Virginia, also known as Hampton Roads). I’ve been supporting Macs professionally for over a dozen years; prior to starting Beach Mac in December 2009, I worked for Apple as a “Genius” (technician) in its MacArthur Center retail store in Norfolk after having been hired as part of its opening team in Summer 2006.

    Brief history of macopolis

For about eight years, I’ve had this grand vision of launching this huge community site for Mac users called Macopolis. The tag line was to be “Where Mac users live. Online.”

I couldn’t launch it while I was with Apple, so I’ve had the name registered this whole time, and I’ve kept renewing it, thinking, “Well, maybe someday….”

Well, that day isn’t coming anytime soon, so I figure I may as well use it as my semi-professional tech blog — a place online where I can offer my thoughts and expertise on a variety of subjects (but probably mostly Apple and tech-related issues). I say semi-professional, because I’ll probably be candid and somewhat opinionated.

I welcome any questions you may have, and if you’re in the Hampton Roads area and you need some help with your Mac or Apple products, please give me a call.
